The international committee of the Red Cross in Geneva (ICRC) contracted Grekkon Limited to supply drip irrigation kits in Nigeria. ICRC drip kits in Nigeria are for thousands of smallholder farmers. These farmers will produce commercial and subsistence vegetables in their gardens. It is an initiative to; boost household incomes, provide fresh food, and mitigate against climate change. Grekkon Limited is the best irrigation company in smallholder farmer irrigation systems in Africa, so it’s selection by the ICRC. Beyond product supply, our team of highly trained agronomists works daily in the farms with smallholder farmers. We train them on how to irrigate, when, and irrigation systems management.

These smallholder Nigerian farmers will be trained on crop irrigation; when and how to irrigate. They will also learn irrigation system management; maintenance, service, and use. Many are first-time irrigation farmers whose crop has been at the mercy of the weather. They will now produce for themselves and the market during the drought season. It will change their livelihoods as their incomes rise and food security is assured for each of them. Grekkon Limited will follow up on the progress these farmers make and share their success with others on the continent.
In October 2020, Grekkon Limited’s technical team did dam lining in Same, northern Tanzania in a UN-sponsored project. These water reservoirs will irrigate hundreds of smallholder farmers’ land providing food throughout the year. We trained the project officers on how to maintain the dam liners to last fifteen years without damage. Our service to such initiatives on the continent contributes to the achievement of food security as a millennial goal. Grekkon Limited is proud to serve in this capacity.
