Your Greenhouse Polythene
The two aspects to greenhouse polythene in Kenya supplied by Grekkon Limited type and color choice are; light, and heat. Light as a factor of the amount of Ultra Violet (UV) radiation your crop is receiving, heat by the level of Infra Red (IR) light coming through.
1. Your Light Factor; Clear v Yellow Polythene
A mono-color rose grower likely uses yellow polythene which with a more intense UV block treatment, allows less UV. Greenhouse vegetables in Kenya enjoy high UV for photosynthesis. More food made by your crop=better yield. Clear polythene gives this best. Bi-color flowers too require higher UV for a broader flower color spectrum.
2. Your Heat factor
Clear or yellow greenhouse paper type 205 by Grekkon Limited is better if your greenhouse is in a warm area. 205 is without IR treatment, thus retains less heat in the greenhouse. Grekkon Limited’s greenhouse paper type 504 will suffice pretty well in cool locations because with its IR treatment, it retains much heat. Again, if the variance between your night and day temperature is wide, greenhouse paper type 504 is recommended.
